Maleric was the person who was in charge of the invading Agathian army and essentially watched most of his army and men die for nothing because of over reaching Agathian ambitions to conquer the Tenosian lands in said Holy War and pretty much as soon as he got back, he saw Agatha as a whole was severely weakened and demoralized from the holy war and knew he had an opportunity to take power. Agatha before the Mason rebellion was an over indulgent, zealous, elistist, and arrogant religious society and war machine that fell apart because they attempted to invade the Tenosions in a massive holy war, but they severely underestimated them and because of their own hubris and blinding righteousness paved the way for their own downfall from within. Neither are good guys, but both are very much right or wrong depending on how you look at the state of the Chivalry universe and their implied lore through characters and locations.
So, this is gonna be a bit of a long response, but I assure you it is very much worth reading so.here we go: Oh boy I've been waiting for a post like this for awhile.
